*Monthly tuition is a flat rate that reserves a student's weekly lesson time throughout the piano year, whether or not each lesson is attended. There is no reduction of tuition for the months that have scheduled breaks, as those weeks have not been factored into the tuition average. This average has been calculated based on the average number of lessons per month in a year. Some months will have more or fewer than 4 lessons, but monthly tuition remains the same each month. Monthly tuition is not adjusted for students who begin lessons in the middle of the year. Please refer to the calendar to see the yearly teaching schedule.
Accepted Forms of Payment
Late Payments
Tuition is always due by the 1st of each month and considered late by the 3rd, even if the first lessons of the month are rescheduled, cancelled, or missed. If monthly tuition is not received by the first lesson day of the month lessons will be suspended until payment is received. If monthly tuition is not received by the 15th of the month the student will be moved to the waiting list and their lesson spot will be forfeited.
Tuition reserves your weekly lesson time slot and studio membership.
It also covers the cost of, but not limited to, the following:
…. And MUCH more!
Tuition does not include the cost of music books. Completing a lesson or solo book will be celebrated! The cost for the new music book is added to the next month invoice.
Please note: Supplemental music that I have a studio license for is included in tuition cost.
However, Music purchased from an online store such as Musicnotes.com is the responsibility of the student to purchase.
Yearly Schedule
The piano year runs from September to August or 12 months from the month in which lessons begin. Lessons occur at the same day and time every week. Please refer to the calendar to view studio closings.
Summer Lessons
Lessons continue normally throughout June and August with a break in July. Please notify the instructor of any lessons that will not be attended. In order to keep your spot for the fall, students must pay a non-refundable holding fee of $50.00 for each month that the student does not attend. Otherwise, the student will forfeit their spot and be moved to the bottom of the waiting list.
These lesson plan options will assure you that your progress will continue under Mrs. Crowley’s instruction, should you miss a scheduled lesson.
Mildly sick? No way to get to lessons? We will jump on Zoom for your lesson. This is a valuable way to keep your individual lesson time. Scheduling Conflict? Not feeling well enough to have an online lesson? I’ll send you a written lesson plan.
Send Mrs. Crowley a short video of you practicing your assigned lesson material 24 hours before a lesson you will miss, and I will use your lesson time to watch your video. I will send you a detailed assessment of your playing and what you are to work on for your next lesson.
Parents, you can call Mrs. Crowley during the regular scheduled lesson time and we can discuss your student’s progress, answer any questions you might have and brainstorm ideas to enhance your child’s progress with music lessons.
Make-up Lessons
Please notify the instructor as soon as you know you will miss a lesson. Make-up lessons will be given based on Mrs. Crowley's availability from the week of the absence through the week following the absence but they are not guaranteed.
*Same day cancellations or no-shows are not eligible for make-up lessons.
All students must bring a blank notebook for assignments to every lesson. Any additional materials assigned by the instructor will be required at every lesson.
Siblings and Children of Students
Siblings with back-to-back lessons that are dropped off together should bring quiet entertainment for themselves, such as an iPad with headphones, a book, or schoolwork to do while they wait through their sibling’s lesson. On a case by case basis, children of adult students may wait in the waiting area with quiet entertainment. If a sibling or child is a consistent distraction for the student in their lesson, they will not be allowed to accompany their sibling or parent to lessons.
Students who are late for their lesson will only be given the remainder of their time, and the missed time is not eligible for make-up or refund. Students who are not picked up promptly at the end of their lesson are encroaching on the next student’s lesson time and/or the instructor’s personal time. Students who are consistently picked up late at the end of their lessons will accrue a late pick-up fee at the instructor's discretion, which will be added to the following month’s tuition. Students may not arrive early to their lesson, unless communicated to and approved by the instructor.
When it comes to practicing at home, the quality of time spent at the piano is more important than the quantity of time spent. Fifteen minutes of deliberate, focused, efficient practice is more productive than sixty minutes of mindlessly playing something over and over to pass the time. One of the most important things we do in lessons is to learn how to practice in order to build good habits.
Here are some practice pointers that apply to most students and most situations:
Thirty days notice must be given if a student wishes to withdraw from lessons. Outstanding balances must be paid in full before the student’s last scheduled lesson.
